Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association

WELCOME!  Thank you for your interest in the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). If you are new to GDBSSA, here is some basic information.

• GDBSSA is open to all players age 60 and up.  We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.

• We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+).  The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.

• We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).

• Open practices are held throughout the week, and are used for new player evaluations.

• Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing. 

• Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing

• Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.

• New players - please click on Contact Us to give us your information; we will send you contact information for you to arrange a "tryout".

Game Status Updates 

Games for Tuesday, September 9, 2025 are cancelled due to flooded fields.

*** UPDATE TO FIELD AVAILABILITY THIS WEEK!  (see below) ***

 The County has CHANGED the dates when they will be working on the fields. They will now CLOSE the fields for their maintenance work for only three (3) days ... on September 10, 11, and 12th. That means:

• The Junior league will play their scheduled games on Monday, September 15th but will NOT have a game on Wednesday, September 10th.

• The Senior League will play their scheduled games on Tuesday, September 16th, but will NOT have a game on Friday, September 12th

Wade has updated the schedules based on this new information and uploaded both the Junior and Senior season schedules on the GDBSSA website (on the Jr and Sr Division tabs). PLEASE use this website for the official schedule until he reworks and uploads them for the TeamLinkt application

In Memoriam

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we are announcing the passing of Tommy Knott.  He lost his long, tough, and courageous health battle and was taken from us today, but not before he won our hearts and souls as a local softball legend, coach, mentor and friend. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Beth and his family. 💔🙏

The field memorial for Tommy Knott has been postponed due to the Strickland fields being closed next week (flooded fields and maintenance work). A new date will be announced soon. 

The League will honor the memory of long-time Daytona and Flagler legend Tommy Knott at Strickland Park. Tommy's family is planning to attend. The date for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.

OFF SEASON PRACTICES

• Monday - September 1, 2025 at 8:30 am with Gary Klemens at Spruce Creek Recreational Facility (All Children's Park).

• Monday - September 8, 2025 at 9:00 am at Coraci Park is CANCELLED! This is recommended for Sr. players.

• Saturday - September 6th, 2025 at 8:30am with Tony Lorraine at Spruce Creek Recreational Facility (All Children's Park).

• If games are cancelled on Monday, September 8th at Strickland, Tony Lorraine will host BP at Spruce Creek Recreational Facility (All Children's Park).

Please note that practice sessions are informal gatherings organized by league members and are not officially sanctioned by the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). Participants engage in these sessions voluntarily and at their own risk. By attending practice sessions, players acknowledge and assume all risks associated with softball activities. The GDBSSA, its officers, organizers, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries sustained during these unofficial practice sessions.
