Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association

WELCOME!  Thank you for your interest in the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). If you are new to GDBSSA, here is some basic information.

• All players, age 60 and up, are eligible to play in the GDBSSA.  We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.

• We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+).  The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.

• We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).

• Open practices are held throughout the week at various locations. See the dates and times below.

• Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing. 

• Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing

• Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.

 ** Games Status **   

Sr Division games for Friday, January 30th will have a delayed start:

•  The Sr Division games scheduled for 9:00am on Friday January 30th will now start at 10:00am. The games scheduled for 10:30am will now start at 11:30am. 

GDBSSA Annual Super Bowl Squares Fund Raising Event:

• $10 per square (CASH ONLY)

• Squares go on sale Monday, January 19th thru Friday, February 6th at Strickland fields 

PAYOUT:

• 1st quarter scores = $125

• 2nd quarter scores = $125

• 3rd quarter scores = $125

• Final score = $125

• $500 goes to the 2026 GDBSSA Social Activities budget

Hitting Clinic - a few players have expressed interest in participating in a hitting clinic. There may be an opportunity to bring Steve Imlay to Daytona to host his Softball Hitting Academy's clinic if there is enough interest. The clinic would be on a first-come-first served enrollment as it will be limited to no more than 15 - 18 players for two (2) one-day clinics (one group participates on Day One and the second group on Day Two). If we get at least twelve (12) players to commit to participating (cost is $300 each), Steve Imlay will agree to set up his clinic for us. A date and time will be determined once we have enough interest and contact Steve to provide details of his schedule. Batting Practice Sessions*: 

• Mondays at 9:00am at Coraci Park. This is recommended for Sr. division players. 

• Gary Klemens will host BP sessions every Friday at 8:30am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). This Friday's (January 30th) practice will start at 10:00am.

• Jeff Rush will host BP sessions every Saturday at 8:30am at Strickland Park (where we play). THIS SATURDAY'S PRACTICE (JANUARY 31st) IS CANCELLED.

*Please note that practice sessions are informal gatherings organized by league members and are not officially sanctioned by the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). Participants engage in these sessions voluntarily and at their own risk. By attending practice sessions, players acknowledge and assume all risks associated with softball activities. The GDBSSA, its officers, organizers, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries sustained during these unofficial practice sessions.
