Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association

WELCOME!  Thank you for your interest in the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). If you are new to GDBSSA, here is some basic information.

• All players, age 60 and up, are eligible to play in the GDBSSA.  We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.

• We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+).  The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.

• We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).

• Open practices are held throughout the week at various locations. See the dates and times below.

• Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing. 

• Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing

• Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.

In Memoriam

** Board of Directors/Sr Division Commissioner opening ** - Glen Walker has decided to retire from his Senior Division Commissioner position effective with the upcoming Winter 2026 season.  To fill the vacancy, we are asking that anyone who is interested in running for this Commissioner position to please forward your name to either Dennis Devlin or George Greb.  

 ** Games Status ** - The 2025 Fall Season is now complete! Onto the Winter 2026 season! 

** Winter 2026 Season Update ** - we are well into the process of gathering names of players ... for both the Senior and Junior divisions ... who want to play in the Winter 2026 season. Jane Flanigan is collecting names for the Jrs and John Campbell is collecting names for the Srs. If you have NOT already confirmed your desire to participate in the Winter 2026 season with Jane or John, you MUST contact them by no later than December 15th, 2025 to be included in the Winter 2026 draft.

A big thank you out to Chuck Weisman for organizing the picnic for both divisions and to all of the volunteers who contributed their time and food to help us celebrate  crazy season!!!

Batting Practice Sessions: 

• Monday - Venue Change!! December 8, 2025 at 8:30am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). This is recommended for Sr. players.

Other Off Season Batting Practices:

• Dan Powers will host BP on Saturday, Dec 6th; Monday, Dec 8th; and Saturday, Dec 13th at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park) at 8:30am. See Note below about December 8th**

• Gary Klemens will host BP every Monday and Saturday at 8:30am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park)  beginning on December 15th.

• Tony Lorraine will host BP sessions on every Wednesday and Friday beginning on Wednesday, December 3rd at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). All practices start at 8:30am. 

     **PLEASE NOTE - the BP with Dan Powers on Monday, December 8th, will be at Coraci Park at                8:30am **

Participants engage in these sessions voluntarily and at their own risk. By attending practice sessions, players acknowledge and assume all risks associated with softball activities. The GDBSSA, its officers, organizers, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries sustained during these unofficial practice sessions.
