Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association
GDBSSA is open to all players age 60 and up. We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.
We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+). The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.
We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).
Open practices are held throughout the week, and are used for new player evaluations.
Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing.
Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing
Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.
New players - please click on Contact Us to give us your information; we will send you contact information for you to arrange a "tryout".
Since our home fields at Strickland are still flooded and will also be closed next Friday for maintenance, the Board has approved a temporary move to the New Smyrna Sports complex for next week's games (September 15 - September 19).
The address for the New Smyrna Sports Complex is 1800 Turnbull Bay Road, New Smyrna Beach, Fl 32168. The softball fields are on the southwest corner of the Sports complex with plenty of parking available right by the fields. There is a good map of the complex you can view here: https://www.cityofnsb.com/1292/Sports-Complex
The schedule on the "Monday - Wednesday JR Division" and "Tuesday - Friday Sr Division" tabs will remain the same for next week. Please review the schedule so you are aware of which time your team plays. We will assign which field you will play on when you go through the registration process on Monday (Juniors) or Tuesday (Seniors).
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we are announcing the passing of Tommy Knott. He lost his long, tough, and courageous health battle and was taken from us today, but not before he won our hearts and souls as a local softball legend, coach, mentor and friend. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Beth and his family. 💔🙏
**** Update: Celebration of Life for Tommy Knott ****
A Celebration of Life for Tommy Knott will be held Sunday, Sept. 21 at Cattleman's Hall at the Flagler County Fairgrounds, 150 Sawgrass Rd., Bunnell, Fl., 32110, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Food: The event is potluck, so please bring a dish.
