Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association

WELCOME!  Thank you for your interest in the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). If you are new to GDBSSA, here is some basic information.

• All players, age 60 and up, are eligible to play in the GDBSSA.  We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.

• We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+).  The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.

• We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).

• Open practices are held throughout the week at various locations. See the dates and times below.

• Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing. 

• Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing

• Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.

In Memoriam: March 9th: We are sad to announce that Steve Farney's wife, Beryl, passed away today. Please keep Steve and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

• the League will supply pizza and wings along with soda and water

• players can bring any additional items they would like to share

• Jr Division: Please note that our season has been extended until April 13th to make up for the games we missed due to the frigid weather and fit in our end-of-season tournament.

Batting Practice Sessions*:  ** Note location change for Mondays' BP for Sr players **

• Mondays at 9:00am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). This is recommended for Sr. division players. 

• Gary Klemens will host BP sessions every Friday at 8:30am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). 

• Jeff Rush will host BP sessions every Saturday at 8:30am at Strickland Park (where we play). 

*Please note that practice sessions are informal gatherings organized by league members and are not officially sanctioned by the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). Participants engage in these sessions voluntarily and at their own risk. By attending practice sessions, players acknowledge and assume all risks associated with softball activities. The GDBSSA, its officers, organizers, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries sustained during these unofficial practice sessions.

Upcoming 2026 League Social Events:

• Senior Division end-of-season picnic: Tuesday, March 24th

• Junior Division end-of-season picnic: Wednesday, March 25th

• Daytona Tortugas Game on the newly renovated Yuengling Flight Deck: Wednesday, May 6th

  • $35 value! League players pay $15, their guests pay $20 per ticket! You receive a game ticket PLUS two (2) hours (5:30pm - 7:30pm) of an All-You-Can-Eat buffet (hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, pulled chicken, green beans, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, cookies with water and soft drinks) in special reserved seating. 

  • The Flight Deck is located in right field with room for 50 to over 200 guests! It offers a partially covered seating area with outdoor furniture, a full-length drink rail facing the field, and ample seating options, all with a close view of the visiting team bullpen. The space also features a full-service bar.
