Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association

WELCOME!  Thank you for your interest in the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). If you are new to GDBSSA, here is some basic information.

• All players, age 60 and up, are eligible to play in the GDBSSA.  We are dedicated to making softball enjoyable for all who play.

• We play in two divisions - Junior division (age 60+) and Senior division (age 70+).  The JR division plays games Monday and Wednesday mornings, and the SR division plays games Tuesday and Friday mornings.

• We play three seasons each year - Approximate dates are Winter (January-March), Summer (May-July) and Fall (September-November).

• Open practices are held throughout the week at various locations. See the dates and times below.

• Cost to play is $60 each season which must be paid before playing. 

• Liability waiver and guidelines acknowledgement must also be on file with the League before playing

• Team shirts are available for additional fee of $8 each or $9 for sizes XXL and larger. If you would like your shirt personalized with your number(s) contact Joe Santiago at (305) 986-4169. Cost is $5 per digit.

In Memoriam

We are very sad to announce that Bob Morton's wife, Linda, passed away this morning. We will post any details about funeral arrangements once they are available to us. Please keep Bob and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

We had to pull a schedule together without the normal input. If you cannot make your assignment, please check the Umpire list (on that same page) and try to find a replacement. Thanks!!! ***

End of Season Picnic - SAVE THE DATE!! 

To celebrate the end of this crazy season, the League is sponsoring picnics for both the Junior and Senior divisions! For the Juniors, the picnic will be held on the last day of their season, Wednesday, November 19th. For the Seniors, it will be held on the last day of their season, Friday, November 21st. Both picnics will take place at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex fields from 10:00AM to 1:00PM.

The League will be providing sandwiches, chips, and non-alcoholic drinks. If anyone would like to bring a favorite dish or dessert to share (i.e. Jane's cookies), please feel free to do so ... but it is not required!

** Winter 2026 Season Update - we are beginning the process of gathering names of players ... for both the Senior and Junior divisions ... who want to play in the Winter 2026 season. Jane Flanigan is collecting names for the Jrs and John Campbell is collecting names for the Srs. If you have NOT already confirmed your desire to participate in the Winter 2026 season with Jane or John, you MUST contact them by no later than December 15th, 2025 to be included in the Winter 2026 draft.

Batting Practice Sessions: **** PLEASE NOTE  - Location & Time Change to All Children's Park! *

• Monday - Venue Change!! November 17, 2025 at 8:30am at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park). This is recommended for Sr. players.

• Friday - November 21, 2025 at 8:30 am with Gary Klemens at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park).

• Saturday - November 15, 2025 at 8:30 am with Gary Klemens at All Children's Park (Spruce Creek Park)

Please note that practice sessions are informal gatherings organized by league members and are not officially sanctioned by the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association (GDBSSA). Participants engage in these sessions voluntarily and at their own risk. By attending practice sessions, players acknowledge and assume all risks associated with softball activities. The GDBSSA, its officers, organizers, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for any injuries sustained during these unofficial practice sessions.
